These helped Rome lead an all-Italian group of top cities, including Bologna and Naples. After finishing second in 2023 behind Florence, Rome rose to first place in 2024 among 16,601 cities, according to 395,205 voters.
Rome’s food scene features traditional dishes such as saltimbocca, supplì, various types of pizza, maritozzo, ice cream, abbacchio a scottadito, and artichoke dishes. Other local favorites include tomatoes with rice, coda alla vaccinara, and Roman tripe. This culinary diversity, celebrated in quaint, historic settings, showcases Rome’s rich, authentic flavors.
